From the Desk of the Fletcher Free Library

Hunt students and families are invited to this wonderful event with author Ann Braden on Monday 9/23 at 6:00pm. It's a great opportunity to hear from a local DCF author as she discusses her latest book The Benefits of Being an Octopus which tells the story of a young girl finding courage amidst domestic violence

More School Info

Hi folks,

Here are a few more details you may find helpful as the year gets going:

-Your child was given a list of the after school programs and a district calendar today. Please check in for those.
-Chromebooks and chargers were handed out today. For students who had returned a Chromebook form indicating it's OK for the Chromebook to go home, they should be bringing them home this weekend. The charger should remain at home so that students can charge them on nights and weekends and bring them into school ready to be used. We do not have extra chargers on team for students to use when they forget. Thanks for helping to support you child with this. If you and your child decide you'd prefer the Chromebook and charger stay at school because you have another computer for home use, we can arrange for that. Just let me know at jfabri@bsdvt.org.
-The Burlington Pride Parade is this Sunday 9/8. If anyone is interested in going beyond watching the parade, a group from the Burlington School District will be marching and we welcome students to join us:
  • Date: Sunday, September 8th
  • Location: Meet at the Hood Plant parking lot on King Street
  • Time: Meet in the parking lot at around 11:45 - NO LATER THAN 12. The Parade begins at 12:30
  • What: The Pride Parade is a relatively short, joyous walk down Church Street to Battery Park. It ends in a Festival that begins at 1.
That should do it for this week. Have a great weekend and we'll see students on Monday for our first full week!

Digital Citizenship - Parent Resources

Hello Phoenix Families,

As we get ready to roll out Chromebooks to our students, we are teaching a series of digital citizenship lessons from Common Sense Media. We wanted to include a link to this fabulous resource if you're not already familiar with it. Check out the "Parents Need to Know" tab for lots of great info about how to best support your young adolescent to make healthy digital choices. This can be a difficult world to navigate and we're all learning as we go.

Take care!
